2,100 kilometres of new tarmac roads

More than 2,100km of new bitumen roads were completed between 2022 and 2025, alongside a settlement of the Sh170 billion pending bill that had frozen the construction industry.

2,100km
of new blacktop

This administration inherited stalled road projects and a Sh170 billion mountain of pending bills owed to contractors, which had frozen the entire construction sector.

  • More than 2,100km of new blacktop road completed between 2022 and 2025.
  • Over 21,000km of road under maintenance and improvement programmes.
  • A securitisation of the Road Maintenance Levy unlocked payment to contractors and restarted stalled works.

Roads were prioritised by economic function — moving produce from farm to market and linking industrial parks and export corridors — rather than by political convenience.
