Dairy farmers see milk prices rise 35%

A guaranteed minimum producer price, revived New KCC processing and expanded cooling infrastructure raised the price paid to dairy farmers by 35% while production grew 13%.

+35%
farm-gate milk price

Dairy farmers were price-takers, dumping milk at whatever processors offered and pouring away surplus in the flush season for lack of cooling.

  • New KCC set a guaranteed minimum producer price that private processors were forced to match.
  • Farm-gate milk prices rose 35%.
  • Milk production grew 13%.
  • Milk coolers were installed in dairy cooperatives so the flush-season surplus is preserved instead of wasted.

Investment in powder-drying capacity means surplus milk becomes a storable, exportable product rather than a seasonal loss.
